When the tablet PC was first introduced, it was closer to a variation on laptops than the ones we see on the market today. Typically they were laptops that had a screen which swiveled around and had a touch screen. Compared to the tablet PCs of today, they are hardly recognizable.

Introduction to the Modern Tablet PC

In the last few years, the design of tablet PCs has been completely revolutionized. The first of the modern tablets was the Apple iPad, which did away with bulkiness, making these tablet PCs truly portable. This is a big advantage in today’s world where 13″ screens and two pounds of computer is just too much for many consumers to lug around. Because of the innovation of design, many hopped onto the iPad train.

Revolution of Tablet PCs

Since the introduction to the iPad, however, many manufacturers have come out with better tablets that really cater to the consumer. One of these is the ability to use Flash. The iPad lacks this functionality preventing the ability to use the tablet PCs effectively. Without Flash, you can’t watch videos on YouTube or use many websites fully. Another improvement are other operating systems available including Google Android, which improves on Apple iOS, which is used by iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads.

There are so many models of tablet PCs now available, it may be hard to choose the model that you like the best. When choosing, take the time to research the different choices and pick the one that matches your lifestyle the best.

Our technology-based world has seen a great rate of growth. In just the past few decades we’ve seen and experienced things that used to be considered fantasy or science fiction. Many of us used to laugh at the idea of having a mobile phone, thinking it to be something out of a James Bond movie. However, here are a few examples of the latest works of technology that are no longer considered science fiction.

Kindle
The Kindle is the first of several e-book readers, otherwise known as wireless reading devices. E-book readers have only been available for about the past two years; however, their popularity has grown in leaps and bounds. These devices have improved vastly as well. The reader’s view space has increased as well as being developed to allow viewing while sitting in the sun. Wireless access and coverage have also been added and upgraded.

Smartphones
It used to be that we only used our phones for making telephone calls. Then it evolved into a texting machine, followed by a way to share pictures and videos. Then came the smartphone. The Apple iPhone seems to be the most popular, allowing users to do many more things with a very small device. Smartphones have become a way to play our music, play games, access the Internet, as well as offer email capabilities. Users can also visit sites such as Offers.com for the latest shopping deals. Oh, and smartphones do still let users make traditional voice calls!

iPads and Tablets
The iPad and other computing tablets have made it possible to take almost all of our computing requirements and make them mobile in a very small footprint. These tablets can do just about anything a traditional laptop can do, but with a sleek and modern look.
